This new version fixes the following issues
Apologies for not meeting my original commitment of releasing 2.1.4a during Diwali. i tried to resolve the issue with F&O data, but i kept running into issues and the effort involved seemed considerable. Hence decided to drop that feature for now and release the BSE Indices fix only.
While testing realized NSE had broken the Indices data download too, which was fixed promptly.
My server is up for renewal in Jan 2013 so any contribution towards the same will be appreciated.
In the end, I wish the Getbhavcopy community a Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year !!
UPDATE 1 (19 Nov 2012) :- Please note that I have updated the .net framework requirement from 3.5 to 4.0, so if you are experiencing any issue with Getbhavcopy, it is advisable to first ensure that you have installed .net 4.0 runtime from http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=17718
UPDATE 2 (19 Nov 2012):- Some people are reporting that the 2.1.4a version of Getbhavcopy is a virus. I am not sure why some antivirus programs are reporting so. I did a test myself using AVG and Malwarebytes installed on my machine and they did not report anything. So as to be fully sure I did a online scan and the results are at https://www.virustotal.com/file/091a8da633c991d437ef293589b857f3d011a642822aea69c160d8040735d93f/analysis/1353309980/ for all of you to see it.
I do see that some antivirus programs are detecting something, but many of the reputed ones like kaspersky, mcafee, norton, trendmicro are not detecting anything.
Please note that I do take such things seriously as Getbhavcopy is a brand in itself, but I am optimistic that this can be treated as a false alarm.
In the end I will leave it up to your discreetion if you want to use Getbhavcopy or not due to this, as in this cyberworld no one can be 100% sure (not even I), so if there is something untoward to happen out of this, I would not be held responsible.
UPDATE 3 (20 Nov 2012) - Many people are reporting an issue in version 2.1.4a, whereby Getbhavcopy gets stuck in case one tries to download data for a day when markets were closed, hence no data would exist on the server. To experience this scenario try downloading data for 14th November as it was a holiday. You will see log similar to the one below
Message ********* Starting Getbhavcopy *********
Message ********* Downloading Data for 14-11-2012 *********
Message Downloading NSE Equity Bhavcopy
Error Error downloading NSE Equity Bhavcopy file
Error The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
Message Downloading index data for NSENIFTY
UPDATE 4 (20 Nov 2012) - Many users are also reporting that 2.1.4a does not work on Windows 7. I tested it out and there is no such issue. I confirm Getbhavcopy works without issues on Windows 7. I suggest all users should update to the .net framework 4.0 as mentioned above.
