Getbhavcopy - Ensure you use the secure version

Posted on January 17, 2016 at 9:50 PM

I recently did a Google search for Getbhavcopy and was surprized to see the number of sites offering fake versions of Getbhavcopy, along with crack and serial.

Google search for maliscious Getbhavcopy

What raised my suspicion was that Getbhavcopy was being offered with Serial and Crack, which does not make sense because Getbhavcopy has always been free and never required a serial to unlock its features.

I feel it was necessary to raise awareness about this in the community as such techniques are used by hackers to install malware and virus on your machines.

You can safeguard your machines by following these simple tips below :

  1. Always download Getbhavcopy from its official Getbhavcopy Download page. Do not download from links on the forum or blogs as some one can even post a malicious link on the forums or comment to blog post and I cannot control the same.
  2. When you download the zip file always check its MD5 hash with the one mentioned on the Getbhavcopy Download page. I strongly recommend WinMD5Free software to help you check the MD5. Read how to to use WinMD5Free software to check the MD5 hash of a file.
  3. I always follow the release of Getbhavcopy with a blog post. In the blog post I will always provide the link to the VirusTotal scan of the Getbhavcopy.exe file. You can verify the following details in the VirusTotal link and the Getbhavcopy.exe
    1. Check File Version in "File Detail" tab in the VirusTotal link and compare the same with the "Build Version" in the "About Getbhavcopy" tab of Getbhavcopy
    2. Check the MD5 hash of the Getbhavcopy.exe file on the "Additional Information" tab of VirusTotal link and compare the same with the MD5 hash that you can obtain for Getbhavcopy.exe file using WinMD5Free software mentioned above.
  4. Always use Getbhavcopy.exe that meets the above requirements - that way it is ensured that you are using Getbhavcopy that I have build and released and not something released by a hacker injected with malware.

hello hemanth ji
have some ticker issue in downloaded file Viz..( 16th fno data of nifty from getbhav copy)

and i have downloaded from nse website
FUTIDXNIFTY24-NOV-2016 8853.8 8890 8960 8855.25 8891.9
FUTIDXNIFTY27-OCT-2016 8812.5 8825.1 8917 8811 8846.65
FUTIDXNIFTY29-SEP-2016 8773.5 8808 8878.8 8769.5 8808.2

if my understanding is correct
NIFTY-I = current month contract
NIFTY-III= next month
NIFTY-III= next to next month
your ticker value shows NIFTY-I = 3rd month contract
NIFTY-II= current month contract
and NIFTY-III= 2nd month contract

which one is correct ,and how about FNO stocks ?
kindly correct if my interpretation is wrong.

Best Regards

I do not recognize that error message. Moreover, where are you downloading Getbhavcopy from ? Use only the download section on this site, the MD5 sums should match in that case.

I have used getbhavcopy from download section on this site only.
I am having Microsoft .NET framework 4.5.2 instead of 4.0 as given in the requirement. Is that could be the problem?

I am using getbhavcopy for last 2 years. From last 10 days , the software is not starting. I am getting a pop-up window "Getbhavcopy has stopped working - Check online for a solution - Close the program".
I am using windows7. I downloaded the latest version but the MD5 checksum value as provided in the download section a5217937894e2deadd21c9d5ab079fd2 is not matching. Please help me with the troubleshoot.

Getbhavcopy downloads EOD data from NSE and BSE in text format so that it can be imported to any Technical Analysis software. Importing this data into the TA software is not controlled by Getbhavcopy so I cannot do anything about the Amibroker issues except to help you with the documentation.

Hemen Thanks a lot for the software,

I want to NSE option data from .CSV file but the file contains separate cell for symbol, expiry date, CE/PE, Strike price etc. also the date of data not available.

Is there any way to import this option data automatically using ASCII import in Amibroker.

Please Help.

Thanks Again.
